The site is located in Yuzhong District of Chongqing. Initially discovered in 2009 when old houses were being renovated, the salvage excavation started in April 2010, and to date has been excavated in three phases with 12,640 square meters and the last 1,360 is expected to be finished in stage 4.

The site, in operation during the Song Dynasty (960-1279) and Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), served as the Mansion of General Yu Jie, a famous general in the Southern Song Dynasty.
