Tencent defeated all other mobile internet tycoons and ranked No.1 on the latest list of highest earning mobile internet companies in China by Forbes China.
The statistics covered companies' mobile internet related business, including media, advertising, e-commerce, games, entertainment and other mobile value-added services in 2012.
Seven out of a total 10 companies on the list are very important companies in the traditional PC internet field, showing that mobile internet is still dominated by traditional PC internet tycoons. Lei Jun, chairman and CEO of Xiaomi Inc., supported this view. This is also one of the reasons he is one of the big winners in the current mobile internet industry.
Among the 35 companies on the list, 10 are focusing on e-commerce, eight are gaming companies, six are Wi-Fi added value and five are mobile marketing websites.
The list still shows the influence of PC internet. As for the E-commerce companies, mobile internet is another marketing channel. Wi-Fi added value has become the main source for income of the main web portals. Besides, as many users still use browsers and search engines to use mobile internet, Baidu and Tencent made considerable money from this "search" area.
