What happens if you give an elephant LSD? A group of researchers led by Warren Thomas, director of Lincoln Park Zoo in Oklahoma City, conducted such an experiment. In 1962, they fired a cartridge-syringe containing 297 milligrams of LSD into the rump of an elephant named Tusko. The elephant began to walk erratically, and then slumped and died.
