Sichuan University (SCU) is a multi-disciplinary national key university located in downtown Chengdu, capital city of Sichuan Province. It's known as the oldest and largest university in all of western China.
The university was created through the merger of three famous national universities: the former Sichuan University, the former Chengdu University of Science and Technology and the former West China University of Medical Sciences. The history of the former SCU can be traced back to Sichuan Zhongxi Xuetang, founded in 1896.
SCU has undertaken a substantial number of national and ministerial-level research projects and has made great achievements in the respective fields. SCU ranks No.1 among its peers for its strengths in the liberal arts, science, engineering and medicine.
