Malaysian Airlines Flight 17

Malaysia Airliners MH17, with 298 people on board (283 passengers and 15 crew), was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur and crashed in eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014, with no survivors, making it one of the worst tragedies in the history of civil aviation. The Boeing 777 is believed to have been shot down by a Buk surface-to-air missile. The Ukrainian government and pro-Russian rebels in the eastern area of the country accused each other of shooting the plane down.
