Mai Jia became well-known abroad after many newspapers wrote rave reviews of his book. The English version of his espionage novel "Decoded" was published and released in 21 countries by Penguin Classics. It is the first contemporary work of Chinese fiction to be published by the company.
After Mo Yan, the Nobel Laureate of Literature, Mai is now considered one of the handful of authors with "overseas success."
