The most expensive colleges in the United States are charging close to $50,000 a year in tuition and fees alone, according to CNN, which still doesn't include the cost of room and board.
Public schools generally charge less for tuition than private institutions. Even the most expensive public institution on this year's list – the University of Pittsburgh – charges in-state residents $17,100 for tuition and fees.
The 10 colleges are all the same as last year, except for Bucknell located in Pennsylvania, which was replaced for the tenth slot.
Many of these schools offer students scholarships and grants, so not everyone has to pay the full sticker price.
Following are the schools with the highest tuition and fees during the 2013 school year according to data from the U.S. Department of Education.
