Location: Lofoten, Norway
Designer: Manthey Kula Architects
Located on Norway's most beautiful wild tourist route, the Roadside Reststop Akkarvikodden was built to replace a toilet that had been blown off by the wind, so the new one needed to be solid and durable. The whole facility is made of 10-12 mm sheets of Corten steel, with two large glass openings on its roof. To prevent rust staining, the toilet, sink and the places that users may touch are made of stainless steel or covered in glass.
