Top 10 universities in China 2015

Considering higher education in China? It's not an easy choice, so here's a list of best universities as reference. The latest rankings have been released by the Center for World-Class Universities (CWCU) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and zuihaodaxue.com.

The fifth annual edition of its kind since 2011, it includes the top 100 universities in China: 65 on the Chinese mainland, 27 in Taiwan, six in Hong Kong and two in Macao.

The top three remained the same as last year. Tsinghua University (Beijing) successfully retained its crown for the fifth successive year. Tsinghua University in Taiwan's northwest city Hsinchu ranked No.2, followed by National Taiwan University. Shanghai's Fudan University squeezed into the top 10 for the first time.

Two universities in Macao, namely Macao University of Science and Technology and University of Macao, have enjoyed great development in the past few years, reflected in them making the top 50 for the first time –46th and 49th respectively.

The rankings are based on four criteria: personnel training, scientific resarch, quality of teaching and resources, accounting for 35 percent, 35 percent, 25 percent and 5 percent respectively. The information is based on world-famous databases, official statistics released by local education authorities, and the Global Research University Profiles conducted by CWCU.
