Beihai Park is a public park and the former imperial garden located northwest of the Forbidden City in Beijing, China. It's east end is connected to Jingshan Park. Beihai literally means "Northern Sea". There are also corresponding Central (Zhonghai) and Southern (Nanhai) "Seas". These three are altogether known as the "three seas" of Beijing. First built in the 11th century, Beihai Park is among the oldest, the most complete, and the most typical of all Chinese gardens. [Photo by Yang Dong/China.org.cn]
