Established in the fifth year (401) of the Long'an reign of the East Jin Dynasty, the Wannian Temple (峨眉山圣寿万年寺铜铁佛像) is one of the major temples on Emei Mountain, featuring the largest statue of Puxian (Samantabhadra Bodhisattva) in China.
The statue is 7.35 meters high and weighs 62 tons. Puxian rides on a white elephant with a golden crown on his head and a S-shaped ornamental object made of jade in hand. Although the temple has been burned down, the statue remains in good shape. Besides, it is accompanied by 331 delicate Buddhist statues.
