Dingcun Village (丁村遗址) is located on the banks of the Fen River, Xiangfen County, Shanxi Province and the fossils of Dingcun Man were unearthed in 1953. Archeologists believe the remains to be approximately fifty to one-hundred thousand years old. Over 2000 artifacts belonging to Dingcun Man, children's teeth, animal fossils and stone tools were discovered the following year in 1954. Compared to Peking Man, the shape of the children's teeth were closer in shape and utility to the modern human's.
