Bus travel is a way to really get under the skin of China’s vast northwest. There are two daily departures to Lanzhou, at 11:00 and 15:30 and the journey takes about 17-24 hours. Other popular destinations include Jiuquan ,a prefecture level city in northwest Gansu that is one stopping off point for Jiayuguan, the location of the Jiayu pass of the Great Wall. There are at least ten daily services and the journey takes 4-8 hours. Meanwhile there is one daily departure to Urumqi at 19:00.
