The ballroom spectacular Burn the Floor is back in
China, with the
cast performing a 10th anniversary reprise nightly at the Beizhan
Theater to February 4, 2008. Burn the Floor, which began as a dance
demonstration at Elton John's 50th birthday party in 1997, is a
high-energy, heart-pounding display by champion dance couples from
fifteen different countries. The show combines the elegant
sophistication of ballroom dancing with the strut and sensuality of
rock and roll.
It first captivated Beijing in 2006, breaking the audience
record held by River Dance. Burn the Floor brings to life many
styles of dance including rhumba, samba, cha cha, waltz, jive,
jitterbug, swing, mambo, salsa, tango and quickstep. Unique
choreography is then amplified by dazzling costumes, invigorating
music, and rock concert lighting.
Touring since 1999, Burn the Floor has received standing
ovations from audiences throughout Australia, the United Kingdom,
Finland, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Holland,
Denmark, Monaco, and the United States.
From ballroom dance to modern to swing and even a touch of
ballet, the dancers glitter, spin, and jump across the huge dance
floor. The physicality and skill of the dancers is truly wonderful
to watch. Dance enthusiasts shouldn't miss this one.
