The Thailand Pavilion, almost finished, will be open during the five trial operations of the 2010 World Expo.

Kanda Vajrabhaya, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, said on March 17 that the current turmoil in Thailand wouldn't affect the country's display at the Expo. Thailand hopes to present the image of a vigorous commercial center boasting rich natural landscape, he noted.

The pavilion covering 3,117 square meters will explore the theme "Thainess: Sustainable Ways of Life." There will be a friendship clock on the roof of the pavilion, symbolizing the friendly ties between China and Thailand since a diplomatic relationship was established 35 years ago.

The exhibition is divided into "Journey of Harmony; Harmony of Difference Tones and Harmony of Thais." There will be a 360-degree hydro-screen and technologies that will let robots talk with visitors.

The interior decoration was painted red and gold, among others, to create a beautiful backdrop.

The pavilion's mascot "Tai" - a cute, friendly and cheerful child-giant – will welcome visitors at the entrance.

The budget of the pavilion is 200 million yuan (US$29.3 million), the largest for the country's Expo participation.
