The Shanghai government will distribute an Expo package, which will include free tickets, to every permanent household in Shanghai.

The package will also include a thank-you note from the government, a map, a badge of Expo mascot Haibao and a transportation card worth 200 yuan (US$29.3). The tickets are valid for a one-month period between June and September.

Residents, both Chinese and foreign, who have lived in Shanghai for at least six months are eligible to receive the package. People with resident permits or a Shanghai hukou (registered residence) that have been registered at least six months are also qualified.

Neighborhood committees will begin verifying qualified residents before distributing the packages between May 15 and May 29. Residents will need to show their residence booklets and relevant documents, which should be dated no later than March 31, to accept them.

Residents who are out of town during the distribution period can apply for a replacement in citizen centers or community affair service centers. Community committees will draw the packages for the disabled or people who are unable to go. The advisory hotline is 962200.

The whole process will open to public supervision with hotline 12388.
