More than 500 artists from 23 art troupes in Europe descended on the 2010 Shanghai World Expo for a grand parade celebrating European Day. This is the first time for the event to be held outside of the European continent, so let's have a look.
The floats kicked off their expo park journey at three o'clock sharp Sunday afternoon. Artists walked along the route from the Houtan Square to the Expo Boulevard, which adds up to around 18-hundred meters.
Artists from Britain, Sweden, Slovenia, and Portugal, dressed in their finest array, performed traditional dances saturated with ethnic flavors.
The chill and drizzle didn't dampen the enthusiasm of spectators. They cheered on performers by shaking hands and taking pictures with them.
Visitor, said, "This is awesome! This is a wonderful opportunity for people to experience all different cultures of the European continent."
"It is very interactive! Compared to those in the exhibition halls. This is more lively, and you can even communicate with artists face-to-face."
You don't have to travel thousands of miles away to get a glimpse of Europe. Here at the Shanghai World Expo, you can have it all!
