A special guest has finally arrived at the Expo after a 3-month journey covering over 10-thousand nautical miles. Now, the ancient Spanish sailboat "Andalusia" is cruising along on the Huangpu River.
The ship cast off from Sevilla in March. By crossing the Mediterranean, the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Indian Ocean, the "Andalusia" has sailed about half of the globe to take part in the Expo in Shanghai.
The captain says the ship runs on two power systems. The first choice is the environmentally friendly wind. As long as the weather conditions allow, they use it.
Half of the sailing from Spain to China was supported by the sea wind. As the name suggests, "Andalusia" will be a moving stage for the Spanish autonomous community Andalusia to showcase itself at the Expo.
Visitors will be invited on board during its stay in Shanghai 'til August the 1st.
