Pingping and An'an were the first pair of twin pandas born after the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake in Sichuan province, which makes them very meaningful. Their names, Pingping and An'an were especially chosen because they mean safe and peaceful in Chinese.

The pandas were adopted by famous movie star Haung Xiaoming, who was at the party to help them celebrate their birthday.

A huge birthday cake was presented to the pandas, made from the panda's favorite foods like bamboo, apple and carrot. All while curious onlookers watched to gave their best wishes.

A visitor said, "I wish them a very happy birthday and hope they wake up happy everyday."

Another visitor said, "Pandas are the national treasures of China. We are the only country in the world that has pandas. All the people in the world, especially Chinese people, should care for them and love them."

These ten pandas born after Wenchuan earthquake were sent to Shanghai early this year as a gift for the Shanghai World Expo. Over the past few months, they have been taken very good care of.

The Vice Director of Sichuan Wolong Nature Reserve Zone said, "The facilities and environment here are all quite good. We have nothing to worry about."

The pandas will stay at the Shanghai safari park for another six months.
