Tang Ruping, director of Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee, has told the local media that Guangzhou will spend CNY2.4 billion to refurbish 61 hotels that will serve the 16th Asian Games.
Tang says that GAGOC is now selecting qualified hotel management companies nationwide to manage the accommodation services of the Asian Games City. He says that during the Asian Games, the price of the hotels concerned will be limited to USD200 for five-star hotels, USD150 for four-star hotels, USD110 for three-star hotels for a double room; and USD150 for five-star hotels, USD110 for four-star hotels and USD90 for three-star hotels for a single room.
Tang stated that the rates charged hotels that are not designated to serve the Asian Games must not be more than their average rate over the last four years. Tang said that a team has been set up to review and check the relevant hotels, and those that fail to meet the required standards within the given time will have their qualification to serve the Asian Games revoked.
It is learned that during the Asia Games, the Garden Hotel Guangzhou, the Asia International Hotel, the International Hotel Guangdong, and the Baiyun Hotel will be responsible for receiving members of Olympic Council of Asia its guests.
