China Eastern Airlines has opened its Taiwan office in Min Sheng East Road Section 3, Taipei.
According to Liu Shaoyong, the chairman of the board of China Eastern, the airline has the most destinations and greatest number of flights on the direct cross-strait routes. He added that the company will take advantage of its network of routes to offer quick and convenient air transportation services to compatriots on both sides of the Straits.
Early in July 2008, China Eastern assigned staff to work in Taipei taking charge of charter flights. From July 4, 2008 to mid May 2009, China Eastern had scheduled over 700 charter flights, carrying more than 120,000 passengers.
At the opening reception, China Eastern donated 100 round-trip tickets and tickets for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo to Taiwan's I-Link Community Service Associations, inviting children to Shanghai to experience the Expo.
China Southern and Air China set up their Taipei offices in January and March 2009.
