At the working conference of Fast Travel Program of the International Air Transport Association, Air China Limited was certified to be a pilot airline for Fast Travel Program.
Air China will participate in relevant meetings and try to develop industrial standards for Fast Travel together with other pilot airlines.
The Fast Travel Program is IATA's new move in 2009 under its Simplifying the Business program, and will be a key program IATA will promote globally in the next few years. It is predicted that USD1 billion will be saved for the aviation industry each year under Fast Travel.
The program provides self-service options in six areas of a passengers' airport journey, including bags ready-to-go, document scanning, self-boarding, bag recovery, check-in, and flight re-booking. IATA will formulate comprehensive solutions according to the actual situation of each pilot company and then recommend to the whole industry to improve services of airports and airlines.
Currently ten airlines have been chosen as pilot airlines to develop industrial standards. Air China is the first Chinese airline to take part in the establishment of IATA standards.
