Intervals between trains on Metro Line 4 will be shortened to 5 minutes from the current 5 and a half minutes in peak periods from October this year.
The Metro operator said the reduced time was the minimum possible for Line 4 as it shares nearly half the 33.7-kilometer route and stations with Line 3, Shanghai Morning Post reported today.
Metro Line 4 can interchange with other lines, except Line 5, and will have its own track in the future, the report said.
The operator said the schedule for Line 9 wouldn't be extended immediately despite residents' needs. But it would be prolonged during the Expo period.
Passengers will be able to take Line 9 and interchange at Madang Road station with Line 13, which links the Expo site.
