A sand sculpture carving culture park covering an area of more than 120,000 square meters will be opening September 6 in Xiamen. The park will be located at Guanyin Mount's Golden Beach in Siming District, Xiamen city.
"It will be the largest sand carving culture park in Asia," a park officer said. "The park will be put on trial exhibition on August 22. All the sand sculptures on display will be kept until May or June next year."
The park at Golden Beach, which faces Jinmen across sea, will be composed of five major parts: a sand sculpture theme zone, competition zone, DIY experience zone for families, a leisure zone and a zone for recreational and sport activities. The main part of the park—the sand sculpture theme zone—will exhibit 58 sand sculptures designed and carved by famous sand sculpture masters in China, including professional carvers from Taiwan and Fujian.
Themed with Fujian and Taiwan culture, the park will bring together marine culture and world culture. Representations of people and scenes from Taiwan and Fujian, like Zheng Chenggong and Sun Moon Lake, will be shown, displaying the close and historic relationship between both sides of the strait.
