There would be 100 types of chain stores in 2012, 17 more than 2009, and sales at these stores were expected to account for 35 percent of the total retail sales of consumer goods.

The city would also focus on developing about 20 giant chain stores and introduce two or three international chain stores, according to the plan.

In 2012, residents living in about 85 percent of the communities would be able to reach shopping centers in eight minutes on foot.

The new stores would be built in communities, entrances and exits to public transport areas, and business districts. They would include convenience stores and supermarkets, some of which would open 24 hours and others from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. each day. They would also have Internet and telephone shopping.
