Qingdao enters wireless era

A wireless broadband network will cover the whole of Qingdao city in 2012, the city government told a news conference June 9.
According to an agreement signed by the government, the network will be completed within three years, and will allow users to get online from anywhere in the city. Wireless broadband could also be good news for parents. Using a mobile phone as a terminal, parents will figure out their child's whereabouts via the network — just as long as the child is carrying a wireless signal transmitter. In addition, drivers will be able to use the network to find out about the traffic situation. Qingdao has been selected as the pilot city for a wireless project that will eventually cover the whole of Shandong Province. The next phase of the project will include 12 cities across the province. |
