Built by the Germans, Qingdao German Prison Site Museum (青岛德国监狱旧址博物馆) is a castle-style prison building. It covers 8,220 square meters, of which the building area accounts for 5,022 square meters.

The building originally housed non-Chinese prisoners seized by Germany but was later used to incarcerate Chinese prisoners under Japanese rule, as well as Communist party members under Kuomintang rule. The basement recreates Japanese torture cells, complete with original implements and illustrations.
