The Qingdao Seashore Scenic Area hiking route

Qingdao is a major seaport, naval base, and industrial center of China. It is not only an important economic and cultural hub in the eastern coast of China, but also an international coastal tourist resort and the central city of Chinese marine scientific research and marine industry development.

Qingdao Seashore Scenic Area integrates mountains, seawaters and architecture.

The old town features classic and modern Western architecture, while the Qingdao Seashore Scenic Area features excellent natural attractions, cultural relics and historic sites.

Qingdao Seashore Scenic Area, located in southern part of Qingdao, is a tourist attraction that integrates mountains, sea and distinctive local architecture.

This scenic area runs along the coastline, extending 25 kilometers from east to west, with an area of 8.4 sq kilometers on land and 5 sq kilometersof water.

Qingdao Seashore Scenic area consists of six parts: Qingdao Bay, Huiquan Bay, Taiping Hill, Badaguan Scenic Area, the Eastern New City Area and Shilaoren Tourist Holiday Resort.

The land area includes the Signal Hill, Astronomical Observatory Hill, Taiping Mountain, Baguan Mountain and Little Fish Hill.

The maritime area includes Tuandao Bay, Qingdao Bay, Huiquan Bay, Taiping Bay, Fushan Bay and some other beaches.

Scenic spots include Zhanqiao Pier, Lu Xun Park, Little Qingdao Islet, Little Fish Hill, Huiquan Square, May 4th Square, Music Square and Yan'erdao Park.

Located in the southwestern part of Qingdao, Qingdao Bay is not only a concentration of scenic spots but also an important part of the Qingdao Seashore Scenic Area.

Huiquan Square covers an area of 13.43 hectares and hosts drinking and fireworks during the Qingdao Beer Festival and many other international events. The southern part of the square is a musical fountain square 100 meters long and 30 meters wide and is the largest one in China.

Located in Fushan Bay, Qingdao Music Square is the biggest in China, featuring sculptures of famous composers. It is a wonderful place for outdoor summer concerts.

Little Fish Hill is one of the best scenic spots along the seashore. 

Little Fish Hill is one of the best scenic spots along the seashore. Although it is not high, it has marvelous view. From the top of the hill you can see a beautiful landscape featuring red tiles, green tree and azure sky and blue ocean (Admission 15 Yuan).

Lu Xun Park is located on the shore of Huiquan Bay. 

Built in 1929, Lu Xun Park is located on the shore of Huiquan Bay. It is dedicated to the memory of Lu Xun, a famous writer during the May 4th Movement.

The Qingdao Olympic Theme Park is situated on the western side of the Olympic Memorial Dock of the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center. It consists of six parts: Reception Centre, Entertainment Interaction Region, Beer Square, 2008 Olympic Landscape Sculpture International Tour Exhibition, the Olympic Licensed Shop and The Grand Screen (Admission: 10 Yuan/day, 20 Yuan/night).

Here we recommend a classic hiking route:

Start at Zhanqiao Pier - Tianhou Palace - Navy Museum - Little Qingdao Isle – Lu Xun Park - Qingdao Aquarium - underwater world - Little Fish Hill - No.1 Bathing Beach – Badaguan Scenic Area – May 4th Square –Qingdao Olympic Theme Park – Qingdao Polar Ocean World – Shilaoren Beach.

This picturesque route displays the incredible charm and scenery of the Qingdao seashore as well as the abundant culture resource of Qingdao.
