Bidding for the construction projects for the 2014 International Horticultural Exposition in Qingdao, Shandong Province, has begun, according to the Qingdao Municipal Commission of Urban-Rural Development.

Tenders are valued at over 1.2 billion yuan (US$ 190.1 million). The large-scale construction of infrastructure and buildings at the park will begin after bidding completes.

The projected investment will include 1 billion yuan (US$ 158.4 million) in buildings and structures and 236.7 million (US$ 37.5 million) in accessory projects.

A trial operation of the expo park will begin in 2013.
