China's World Walking Day activity was launched in Qingdao, a coastal city of Shandong Province, on May 22, 2010.
Over 5,000 lovers of walking participated and that basically meant the event had officially entered China.
The 2010 event covered 6 cities including Qingdao, Shenyang, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Chengdu and Shanghai. In 2011, another 5 cities joined in: Xi'an, Hangzhou, Hohhot, Changchun and Shijiazhuang.
The first World Walking Day was started by the Association for International Sport for All (TAFISA).
