The 2012 3rd City Clubs Open Regatta International was scheduled to raise its sails in Qingdao, a coastal city of Shandong province, on May 5, but got postponed till the next day due to strong winds.
After waiting for one day, 36 teams from over 10 countries and regions, including China, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, all reached the center ahead of time.
The event officially kicked off in the city's Olympic Sailing Center. In the first Beneteau 40 race, the Hong Kong team won the championship under the direction of captain Chen Yuting.
First setting sail in 2010, the event is organized by the Chinese Yachting Association. It is the China's very own sailing event by consent of the International Sailing Federation.
