Qingdao hosts World Leisure Games

The city of Qingdao will host the 2015 World Leisure Games, the World Leisure Organization announced during the 12th World Leisure Congress in Rimini, Italy, on October 3.
The Qingdao 2015 World Leisure Games, with a total of 19 competition events, is arranged to be held from September 12 to 21 in 2015. Five of the events will take place in Qingdao and the remaining 14 items will be held nearby the Laixi Lake and Jiangshan Wetlands. More than 20,000 athletes from about one hundred countries are expected to take part in the event, according to Chen Qiang, vice-director of the Laixi Commerce Bureau. The World Leisure Games, held once every five years, is a worldwide sports event that aims to promote outdoor leisure activities among people of all ages. The first World Leisure Games were held in Chuncheon, South Korea, in 2010.
