Qingdao is committed to building the largest industrial robot base in North China by supporting the development of industrial robot enterprises, according to a report by Shandong News, on May 10.

Industrial robots are considered to be the symbol of a country’s manufacturing capacities and scientific progress.

The East China Machinery Company in Qingdao High-tech Zone successfully developed the first servo robot of 500 kilograms in China.

The robot is used for forging, pressing and heat treatment, and it could replace manual labor and work constantly for 24 hours in harsh conditions, such as high temperature.

In the next few years, China will be the country with largest installed capacity of robots in the world.

Qingdao decided to put more emphasis on the development of industrial robot enterprises and established the Research Center for Smart Robot Technology to respond to the future demand.

So far 11 robot programs have been built in Jiaozhouwan Industrial Park in the High-tech Zone.

This year, Qingdao High-tech Zone plans to construct a specialized park of 1 square kilometer for industrial robots and bring in research institutions, leading enterprises and supporting industries to build the largest industrial robot cluster in north China within three years.
