New industrialization bases blossom in Qingdao

The Pingdu Food and Beverage Industry Belt and Jimo Textile and Clothing Industrial Base in the city of Qingdao, which have innovated in traditional industries, recently applied to be state-level new industrialization demonstration bases in 2013.

The Pingdu Food and Beverage Industry Belt, incorporating Tsingtao Beer, Bernia and 140 more large-scale food corporations, plans to be the largest food and beverage base featuring beer production in China and Asia. It realized an industrial output value of 26.7 billion yuan in 2012.

The Jimo Textile and Clothing Industrial Base has already incorporated over 500 enterprises, focusing on knitting, tatting, spinning, dying, footwear, bedclothes, sportswear, leather, embroidery, etc. Its sales income reached 41.34 billion yuan in 2012.

The number of state, provincial and municipal level new industrialization demonstration bases in Qingdao has increased to 17, according to the Qingdao Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, on Tuesday. Building demonstration bases facilitates industrial clustering and improves core competitiveness.
