Going back in history 20 to 30 years, people were still quite surprised to see a foreigner in Qingdao, but things have changed over the years. Qingdao embraces a large number of foreigners nowadays. Among them, some are foreign students living with Qingdao families and experiencing the differences different cultures bring along.

Connor is one of those foreign students. He excels among his classmates in learning Chinese. Nevertheless, the student was amazed when he first saw the Four Treasures of Study and seal cutting techniques. He still has a long way to go in learning and fully understanding Chinese.

Susanna is living with Mr. Gong and his family. On weekends, they often visit old Mrs. Gong. Susanna found out that elderly Chinese parents are reluctant to live in rest homes, whereas most American elderly are quite willing to live there.

Take then the example of Lujin, an American boy, who said Chinese pie is not that different from American pie.

Li Xuemei then, an American girl with a typical Chinese name, spent a while getting used to her Chinese parents' overly caring when she finally moved in with the Chinese family she had hoped for.
