It was reported on Monday that the award ceremony for the winners of Taishan Literary and Art Award is to be held inside the Qingdao municipal government conference center. This year, Qingdao Literary Federation has submitted 43 literary works; 16 of which are set to receive an award, including the three top spots, three second places and 10 third places. This makes Qingdao the No.1 in terms of number in Shandong Province. Hu Shaojun, member of the Standing Committee and minister of the Qingdao Publicity Department of Qingdao; Wu Shuling, deputy director of the Municipal People's Congress; and Li Xuehai, vice chairman of the Municipal Political Consultative Conference will attend the ceremony.

Hu pointed that the awarded works all bear the distinctive theme of the current times, high artistic standards and a strong local character set against the backdrop of daily life in the city. The works reflect the ability and level of Qingdao's literary and artistic creation. Hu also emphasized that all artists and writers should keep up their good work and create more to reflect people's lives and inspire people's hearts. We should in addition put more emphasis on the cultivation of talent.

The first award-winning works -- symphony "Jiaodong Rhyme," lü opera "Dream of the Broken Bridge" and animation "Laoshan Legend:Fairy" -- showcase high artistic standards and unique characteristics. "Dream of the Broken Bridge," with its anti-corruption theme, proves very popular and attracts more than 50,000 viewers.
