The public bicycle leasing system in the development zone of Qingdao, a coastal city of Shandong Province, was put into effect on June 3.

The first 300 bicycles made their appearance on the southern and northern sides of Tangdaowan Coastal Park, and the other leasing sites for public bicycles will be put into service mid-June.

Members of the public could apply for the use through depositing 200 yuan (US$31.93) as well as a 100 yuan leasing fee.

Public bicycles are free to use for one hour for those whose requests have been approved.
