Recently, Qingdao Jiaodong Airport construction meeting was held in Jiaozhou, which started the new airport’s construction project.

According to the planning, it will be "an airline hub and a gateway airport facing Japan and Korea", so as to promote urban development. It is reported that, Qingdao Jiaodong Airport will start construction next year and finish at least after four years.

At that time, it will be the most advanced civil airport in China and the biggest one in Shandong. The operation level of Qingdao Jiaodong Airport will be 4F, the top level of China. Similar to Beijing Capital International Airport and 11 other domestic airports, it will be capable for world’s largest commercial airlines like A380 to take off and land.

The main runway is 3,600 meters long, and the secondary runway is 3,200 meters long. In addition, when completed, it will add some long-distance airliner, such as Boeing 777, Boeing 787, to satisfy Japanese and Korean tourists.
