Sponsored by People's Daily, the Belt and Road Media Cooperation Forum 2015 was held in Beijing. Merging into Belt and Road is a responsibility as well as a major opportunity for local governments, said Li Qun, secretary of the Qingdao Municipal Committee of the CPC.
Li said the northern section of Maritime Silk Road started from Jiaozhou Bay since 623 AD, which opened the maritime trade in northern part of China. In Belt and Road initiative, Qingdao still serves as a strategic pivot for maritime cooperation.
Enterprises in Qingdao invested US$1.37 billion in countries along Belt and Road in the first half of the year, a 193.5 percent increase over last year.
Qingdao will contribute its share to the initiative in two ways. It will comprehensively deepen international maritime cooperation taking advantage of the ocean. Meanwhile, Qingdao will strengthen cooperation with cities along the Yellow Sea.
This forum put up a platform for communication and cooperation. Qingdao will learn from various thoughtful insights to work together to promote the initiative.
