Qingdao included on the list of most attractive cities for expats

For the fifth time in six years, Qingdao, a coastal city of east China's Shandong province, was included in the list of the 10 most attractive Chinese cities for expats, according to the Conference on International Exchange of Professionals, which was held in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, on Saturday and Sunday.

According to a survey released on April 16, 2016, Qingdao scored high in the ranking's four important indexes for foreigners to evaluate cities: policies for foreign professionals, the working environment and the living environment.

More than 48,000 expats throughout China participated in the survey both online and offline.

The other nine cities on the list are: Shanghai, Beijing, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Suzhou, Guangzhou, Xiamen, and Jinan.

The first list of top 30 attractive global cities for expats also released at the conference. 15 officials from International City/County Management Association and expats participated in the survey both online and offline.

Qingdao was including in the top 30 list and ranked 19th. Other 29 cities are San Francisco, London, New York, Toronto, Singapore, Sydney, Washington, Berlin, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Boston, Shanghai, Paris, Tokyo, Brussels, Beijing, Vienna, Chicago, Qingdao, Hangzhou, Xiamen, Kunming, Shenzhen, Madrid, Guangzhou, Seoul, Buenos Aires, Moscow, Suzhou and Tianjin.

Qingdao has more than 8,200 resident foreign experts. 5,300 foreign experts have flexible cooperative relationship with the city or work with the city's research and development centers or incubators outside China.

Qingdao develops new high-end industries, and it means they need to attract and integrate foreign experts on critical projects.

The government also makes great efforts to create a friendly environment for overseas talent such as building business center for high-end talents.
