China's top economic planner has approved local government of Qingdao, a coastal city of east China's Shandong province, spending of about 107 billion yuan (US$16.38 billion) on transport projects.
The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has approved the construction of five urban rail lines in the coastal city, with the total length reaching 182 km at an estimated cost of 107 billion yuan.
It is estimated that by the year 2021 Qingdao will extend its rail communication lines to more than 231.7 kilometers.
