Dongjiakou port approved as a first-class open port

The Dongjiakou port of Qingdao, a coastal city of east China's Shandong province, was recently approved by the State Council to be a first-class open port. It means the coastal city has two first-class open ports, and the other one is the Port of Qingdao. The scope of opening, procedure of building construction and investment mode, have been clearly defined. Inspection and testing agency will be set up at the Dongjiakou. It will be an important project for building the city as the international shipping center in the northeast Asia. The planning area of the port reaches 72 square kilometers, and 112 berths is being planned to build. After the complement, the annual handling capacity of the port will be 360 million tons. At present, there are 26 berths at Dongjiakou. In 2015, its handling capacity reached 102 million tons. |
