Qingdao to build international shipping center

Through two years of construction and continuous carrying forward its development, Qingdao, a coastal city of east China's Shandong province, is rising as a new international shipping center. Further improvement was scored in the city's development environment of port and shipping and the industry has successfully implemented the structural transformation. According to 2016 statistics, the city's total transport capacity reached 6.597 million DWT, an increase of 514,000 DWT over the preceding year. 172 domestic and international container shipping routes have been opened, including 20 newly increased. In 2016, the port completed cargo throughput of 510 million tons and handled 18.05 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). |
