Zhang Jiangting was appointed secretary of the CPC (Communist Party of China) Qingdao Municipal Committee at a leadership conference held on March 25 in the eastern coastal city of Qingdao.

Zhang will also serve as a member of the standing committee of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee and the secretary of the Shandong politics and law committee. Former Qingdao Party Secretary Li Qun will continue his work as a member of the standing committee of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee.

Meng Fanli was appointed the deputy secretary of the CPC Qingdao Municipal Committee, deputy major and acting mayor of Qingdao at the leadership conference.

Meng was formerly the Party secretary of Yantai.
