Qingdao tops Shandong Province in 4 patent indicators

A few days ago, Shandong Intellectual Property Office released the Bulletin on the situation of patent application and authorization of Shandong Province in the first half of 2017.

According to the bulletin, Qingdao ranked first within the province in terms of the number of in-force invention patents issued, PCT international patent applications, Chinese patent applications and authorizations in the first half of 2017.

By the first half of this year, the in-force Chinese invention patents in Shandong Province has reached 67,998, up 20.9% year on year, among which Qingdao accounted for 19,944, an increase of 25.6% year on year.

In the first half of this year, the province applied for 465 PCT international patents in total. Qingdao, with 243 such applications, made up half of them.

Qingdao also had an overwhelming advantage in Chinese patent applications and authorizations. In the first half of this year, Shandong Province applied for 96,066 Chinese patents, of which 25,312 came from Qingdao, and 30,858 invention patents, of which 10517, or more than one third, came from Qingdao.

In the first half of this year, the number of authorized Chinese patents in Shandong Province was 45,071, and authorized invention patents 9,217. The number of authorized Chinese patents in Qingdao was 12,336, and authorized invention patents 2,916. Active innovation and invention as demonstrated by patent application and authorization has guided and supported Qingdao’s and Shandong’s economies in their transformation and upgrading.
