China.org.cn, September 21, 2017 Print E-mail

The municipal government of Qingdao and the State Grid Shandong Electric Power Company signed a cooperation agreement on September 1 on jointly constructing a world-class power grid in the eastern coastal city.

The power company plans to invest 11.5 billion yuan in Qingdao by 2020 to upgrade the local power grid and make it a safe, reliable, high-quality, efficient, green, low-carbon, intelligent and interactive world-class one.

With the investment, the annual average outage time of households will be reduced to 5 minutes and less in Shinan District and another five central districts, and to 30 minutes and less in downtown areas and county centers, meaning Qingdao will match Tokyo and other advanced cities in the world in terms of reliability and quality of power supply.

In addition, the city will be able to offer online services to all power consumers by 2020.

Furthermore, it strives to increase its installed capacity of clean energy to 2,400 megawatts by 2020 to make local lifestyle and economic growth cleaner and greener.
