Located in Shaoling Yuan, Chang'an District of Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, Xinjiao Temple (兴教寺塔) was built in 669 AD in order to re-inhume Xuanzang, and was one of eight famed temples in Fanchuan during the Tang Dynasty.

Xuanzang's relics were protected in the five-storied Buddhist Relic Pagoda in the temple, along with the pagodas of his disciples, Kuiji and Yuance. The temple was destroyed during the Tongzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty, with the exception of the three pagodas. Xuanzang’s Tomb Tower is the highest one with 23 meters. It is a 5-story timberwork imitating the pagoda’s architectural structure.
