Fahai Temple is located at the southern foot of the Cuiwei Mountain, which is in the Shijingshan District of the western suburbs of Beijing and near the Moshikou Village, the first posthouse of the Ancient Camel Road.
Fahai Temple is well known in the world for its ten large well-preserved murals in the Mahavira Hall. Compared with Dunhuang Murals and Yongle Palace Murals in Shanxi Province, murals in Fahai Temple have their own merits, which could match the beauty of renaissant murals in Europe.
The murals are painted by gold dust. The design of coffered ceiling is superior, besides these, the over 100-year old Whitish-barked Pines, the Bronze Bell and the Bridge of Four; all these make Fahai temple a place attracting tourists from all over the world.
