"Good Man" was completed before her pregnancy. She played country girl Zhao Xiaoyun. She goes to the city to see a doctor about her child but loses her money. She meets a taxi driver who seems intent on taking advantage of her. But to her surprise, the man does not charge her the fare when he drives her to the hospital. But the cabbie earns little thanks, only misunderstanding. Some suspect the girl has lost her money in the taxi. For her natural unaffected performance, Ma Yili earned the Best Actress award at one of China's biggest cinematic events, the Changchun Film Festival.
Career and marriage have changed Ma Yili. Maternity has changed her perspective from tomboy to something more akin to the roles for which she is best known on screen.
