In Shanghai, medical staff took part in a large-scale emergency drill on Monday. The city is sending volunteers to first-aid refresher courses to ensure athletes receive first-aid treatment immediately at competition venues.
In the city of Qingdao, where the Olympic sailing competitions will be held, a land, sea and air security network has been set up around the competition venues. Patrol craft stand guard around the clock, and maritime police can pinpoint potential dangers quickly with the help of sonar.
